Great Bag for the Xiegu G90

Quite by accident I discovered a great protective bag for the Xiegu G90 low power transceiver. The Xiegu G90 has proven to be a game changing HF transceiver for new hams as well as for portable operations. It operates on all HF bands from 10-160 meters. It has a built in antenna tuner that can load up a wet noddle. It has a max RF output of 20 watts which makes it great for digital comms. The G90 is scalable. It has a matching 100 watt linear amplifier and a digital interface card. It also has a combination stand and cooling fan which I found a must in the hot Florida climate.

I never found a protective case I was happy with when it came to the G90. I purchased a microfiber soft wrap that is OK, but it is awkward when placing it in my back pack. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon an old camera bag that my daughter discarded. The bag is made by Lowepro. It is the Lowepro Slingshot 100 AW. This bag has been discontinued by Lowepro but it can still be found used on Amazon and eBay.

The Slingshot AW 100 looks like it was made for the G90. Here is what the main storage compartment looks like when empty:

Here it is with the G90 and the attached cooling fan/stand inside

The picture on the left is of the G90 inside the case. The picture on the right is with a section of removable cushion that attaches on the side via a Velcro strip.

There is plenty of storage in the top compartment for the G90 mic, CE-19 interface, fuses, power cords and even a wire antenna.

When everything is inside, the Slingshot 100 AW presents a low profile and a snug fit for the G90.
